Novasep-MIE consortium to construct the first sorbitol production plant in Vietnam

Novasep, a leading supplier of services and technologies to the life science industries, today announces that its Shanghai-based Asia Pacific subsidiary has secured an Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) contract with Tay Ninh Chemical Industry (Tanichem), a joint stock company between Vietnam National Chemical Group (Vinachem) and Tay Ninh Sugar. Novasep’s share of the contract is in the amount of EUR 7.5 million. The contract is to construct the first sorbitol production plant in Vietnam. Sorbitol, commonly known as a sweetener, is widely used as an excipient stabilizer or moistening agent in drugs, food and cosmetics.

According to the rating company RussCom IT, the food processing exhibition AgroProdMash, taking place annually in Moscow, has become the most important trade fair in Russia. AgroProdMash ranks first of all Russian food processing exhibitions regarding number of exhibitors and visitors as well as represented countries. In 2013, over 770 companies from 36 countries presented the latest technologies and solutions for food processing, ingredients, packaging, cooling and storage equipment to 25,120 international visitors. This year AgroProdMash will be held from October 6 to 10 in Moscow with more than 800 participants from the food industry sector expected.

The Regional Workshop for Asia, Far East and Oceania of the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) regarding the facilitation of International Competition Horse movement was hosted by the Hong Kong Jockey Club (HKJC) from 18 to 20 February 2014 with the support of the Fédération Équestre Internationale (FEI) and in collaboration with the International Federation of Horse Racing Authorities (IFHA). The objective of the Conference was to discuss and identify possibilities to harmonise the existing regulations regarding the movements of International Competition Horses. In this framework, the application of the new concept “High Health, High Performance (HHP)” for horses was also discussed.
