Growers of potatoes, fresh vegetables, process vegetables and fresh tomatoes are being asked to vote now in a referendum to continue the levies to fund their representative product groups; Potatoes New Zealand Inc., Vegetables New Zealand, Process Vegetables New Zealand and TomatoesNZ.
Growers should have received their voting papers in the mail and voting closes at 5pm on Friday 28th of September.
The organisations do the work which allows growers to get on with running their businesses, with the reassurance that someone is working on their behalf on production research, industry development, crop-specific market access, biosecurity work and product promotion.
They work closely with Horticulture New Zealand, which represents all commercial fruit and vegetable growers on issues that affect all of the industry including biosecurity, labour needs, education, training and resource management.
“Don’t leave your voting paper in the in-tray, voting is critical.
“Growers need to vote for both their product group and Horticulture New Zealand to ensure they continue to get the same level of representation as they do now,” chair of Vegetables New Zealand, Keith Vallabh, says.
