Organic farming
A new marketing campaign aimed at Welsh consumers will attempt to reverse a fall in organic food sales.The multimedia campaign, managed by Organic Centre Wales (OCW), will be the first of its kind in the country.
As well as traditional posters at supermarkets, organic food will be promoted on radio, online and via an educational programme for schools.
There will also be a 12-month social media campaign encouraging people to visit the OCW Facebook page for recipe ideas, competitions and farming information.
Dafydd Owen, of OCW, said the campaign would inform consumers and “explode myths”.
He said: “The reputation and popularity of Welsh produce continues to grow, and many of our leading producers use organic production methods.”
The latest Organic Market Report shows that UK sales of organic food slumped in the recession and are struggling to recover.
