Farming on Exmoor

THE farming world graces Appledore Book Festival for the next two weekends when Anthony Gibson and Victoria Eveleigh take the stage.

First up on Sunday is Victoria, to talk about her life in farming on the edge of Exmoor and how she manages her career writing children's books.

It will feature her latest, A Stallion Called Midnight, about a legendary Lundy pony which lived on the island from the 1940s to the early 1960s and was known as "the grandfather of all Lundy ponies".

She will be at Appledore Library at 11.30am, tickets £3.50.

Then on Sunday, October 7, it is the turn of Anthony Gibson, a former communications director for the NFU.

He's written With Magic In My Eyes about authors from the South West, and their landscape associations, including Thomas Hardy and Wessex, Coleridge and the Quantocks, R.D. Blackmore and Exmoor, and Henry Williamson and North Devon. He will be at the Baptist Chapel on October 7 at 2pm, tickets £7.
