Suffolk sheep
IT WOULD have taken an awful lot to beat the supreme Suffolk exhibit from the South Australian stud Allendale, according to judge Norman Carr, Ashburton, New Zealand.

The Day family, Bordertown, were rapt with this comment after their Suffolk ram was named the supreme exhibit at the Royal Melbourne Show on Saturday, where the Suffolks were the feature breed.
Mr Carr said the line-up of sheep displayed was of a very high standard.
Alastair Day said it had been a great showing for the family, who had won several classes.
"It's also been a very successful feature show," he said.
"Our supreme exhibit's sire was the supreme Suffolk champion at the Adelaide feature show in 2008.
"The ram also won the Lambplan class, showing that he has the good looks as well as the performance figures."
It was the ram's first major win. He will be sold as lot one at the Day's on-property sale held on October 5.
The champion Suffolk ewe was won by the Deppeler family, Deppeler stud, Derrinallum.
Doug Deppeler said it was the ewe's first major win.
