New cases of FMD'
South Korea confirmed on Sunday new case of foot-and-mouth disease five days after it declared the end of the worst-ever outbreak that cost some $2.6 billion from last November to March. The agriculture ministry said six pigs at a farm in the south eastern city of Yeongcheon were infected and ordered the slaughter of the animals and emergency sanitization measures around the area.
Other livestocks at the farm, like elsewhere in the country, have been vaccinated for past months and would not be culled, a ministry official said, adding officials were investigating the cause of the outbreak.
