The stud will conduct its 15th sale at its picturesque on-property sale complex at Moura on Monday, September 3.
An outstanding line of 147 select sire prospects and high-performance herd bulls, as well as 10 elite stud females, have been selected for the catalogue.
A total of 115 of the sale's bulls are polled or scurred.
North Queensland-based agency company Queensland Rural has been appointed as one of the conducting agents for the prestigious sale for the first time.
Queensland Rural manager Troy Trevor, Charters Towers, recently visited Billabong to inspect the stud's 2012 sale team and came away very impressed.
"They are an outstanding, large draft of Droughtmaster bulls with the right qualities to perform well in northern herds," Mr Trevor said.
"There is a very sizable selection of high-quality sires, as well as attractive lines of well-bred, high- performance, strong-muscled commercial bulls whose progeny should be ideal to attract the premium prices of finishers, feedlotters and processors."
Mr Trevor was also complimentary about Billabong's sale preparation of their bulls.
"Their silage-based preparation means the bulls are fit, free moving and healthy for bull buyers up here," he said.
The Hicks' are delighted that Queensland Rural - based at the centres of Charters Towers, Mareeba and Bowen, all prominent Droughtmaster breeding areas - will join national stock and station agency Landmark and specialist stud cattle marketing enterprise McCaffrey's Australian Livestock Marketing in staging the Billabong sale.
"This agent coverage allows our bull-buying clients whether existing or first-time buyers to be professionally serviced and now provides northern cattle producers with another direct contact point for inquiries," Mr Hicks said.
As a valuable new incentive for northern bull buyers at this year's sale, Billabong will arrange delivery of sale lots for a special price of $50/lot to Charters Towers Saleyards and $80/lot to Mareeba Saleyards.
