Fonterra $8 million bonus to an executive and 240 workers kicked in the teeth
Locals from Cororooke in south-west Victoria say the closure of a Fonterra factory in their town isn't a big surprise.
The dairy processor will shut down the soft cheese and cream factory next July, leaving 130 jobs at risk.
Andrew Beale is a dairy farmer from Cororooke who has renovated the town's old church into an art gallery and theatre.
He says the 100-year-old Fonterra factory can still be put to good use.
"I'm sure that the closure of the Fonterra factory will also, and it is required that it does move on, and something positive come out of it for the town."
