Krone Comprima Breaks Round Bale World Record

In what is a new world record, a Krone Comprima turned out 149 round bales in one hour, in Oschersleben, Germany.

The Comprima F 125 XC model was put through its paces in a 35ha field of wheat in Eastern Germany on 1 August 2012.
The operator, Ewald Vehring, teaches agricultural machinery at the North German DEULA institute for practical industrial training. The undertaking was covered by the German agricultural magazines DLZ and Agrarheute.
Ewald started the machine at exactly 12.05pm, running it for precisely 60 minutes. Set to the highest density and applying three layers of net wrap to each of the 1.25m diameter bales, the machine stopped at 1.05pm sharp. At that time, the bale count was 149 – produced in just 60 minutes. This count translates into an average of 2.5 bales per minute – in other words, it took the machine only 60 minutes to put through as much as 28 tonnes of wheat straw.

Tractor operator Ewald Vehring and the Krone team celebrated the new world record at the site.
“These 60 minutes were sheer stress for me, even though I am quite a seasoned baler operator,” comments Ewald.
The holder of the new world record continues with a broad grin across his face: ”When I first looked at the bale counter after half an hour, the count was already seven bales ahead of the existing record. This was when I knew that we were going to set a new world record today."
