National Beef Association
A new era began last week for the National Beef Association with the ratification of a constitution and establishment of a board, replacing the review committee that was created in last October to oversee a comprehensive re-organisation.
Continuity between the two has been ensured with the election of Scottish producer Hamish McBean as chairman of the NBA, having led the review committee for the last nine months.
The Westcountry will be represented by John Hoskin, of Dorchester.
SWCoRE moves to new Westpoint offices
The South-West Chamber of Rural Enterprise (SWCoRE), which was formed in 2001 to represent the interests of rural business to Government at regional and national level, is to have a new home.
After being hosted at the offices of South West Food and Drink at Dart's Farm, Topsham, for a number of years, SWCoRE is moving to the offices of the Devon County Agricultural Association at nearby Westpoint.
The South West Rural and Farming Network will also be moving to Westpoint.
Scottish venue for Tillage-Live 2012
It's a long way to go, but many will make the trip to attend the UK's national tillage event in Scotland on October 3.
Tillage-Live 2012 takes place at Haddington, East Lothian, a specialist show for farmers, growers and contractors focused on making the most of the latest technology and techniques.

Updated website for NFYFCs
The National Federation of Young Farmers' Clubs has launched a new website to increase its appeal to a wider public.
As well as a significant benefit to members of YFCs, the new site, www.nfyfc.org.uk, is designed to encourage more people to understand what happens at YFC activities.
Agri-business expert joins Savills in SW
Craig Hodgson has joined Savills South West rural team as an agri-business consultant.
His role at Savills will focus on providing environmental and agri-environment advice which will include rural grant schemes and SFP matters.
He will also be working with farmers on soil and nutrient management and giving consultancy on the viability and suitability of renewable-energy projects.
