THERE was a good turnout for the Easycare farm walk at Ballycoose, hosted by Campbell Tweed.
Visitors heard Seamus McMenamin, market analyst from LMC, outline current lamb market issues locally and in the international markets.
James Campbell outlined Agrisearch and Agricultural Trust (IFJ) strategies to encourage uptake of best practice in farm enterprises and improve profitability.
Campbell Tweed spoke about the sheep flock at Ballycoose, explaining the easier care philosophy, outlining the benefits of Easycare and Wiltshire Horn breeding introducing wool shedding and easy lambing in an outdoor performance recorded system.
Last week the first three Easycare wool shedding rams were sold by Campbell Tweed back across to mainland UK to George King and Barry Sangster. Campbell, George and Barry are members of the Maternal Sheep Group.
The rams which were selected on performance history left the Ballycoose flock for North Ayrshire and Northumberland.
Previously Campbell has supplied Easycare and Wiltshire Horn rams to customers in the ROI to introduce wool shedding genetics to their flocks
