Farming on the move
The Times of India reports that in the seminar, director of National Bureau of Animal Genetic Resources, Karnal, B K joshi informed that the state has 3.4 per cent and 1.7 per cent of country's total livestock and poultry respectively. Further data released by him revealed that the state depends on buffalo, cattle and goats for dairy production.
The population of recognized breeds constitute about 30 per cent of the total buffalo population and rest 70 per cent buffalo population belong to the non descript category.
