Irish preserves take London by storm
Preserves producer G’s Gourmet Jams and Abbey Farm Foods has signed a contract to supply renowned British retailer Fortnum and Mason.
Based in Abbeyleix, Co Laois, the company attributes the deal to its award at last week’s Great Taste Awards in London.
"We have just secured a contract to supply Fortnum and Mason directly on foot of the award," said sales director Clive Gee, whose mother Helen set up the company 14 years ago.
"It’s clearly a valuable halo client for us to have, and will hopefully spark further interest in our products in the UK and elsewhere."
The Laois firm was among only three Irish producers to claim a place in the Top 50 Foods in Britain and Ireland in the Great Taste awards.
The award, in recognition of G’s Rhubarb and Ginger Jam, has translated into solid business for the family firm, which also grows most of its fruit supply on the family farm.
