Welsh Black cattle
WELSH Blacks topped at 5,000gns at the breed society’s 55th annual spring show and sale at Dolgellau.
Selling for 5,000gns was Cwmcae Bleddyn 11th, a March 2010-born bull from T Jones, Cwm Cae, Bow Street.
Bleddyn went home with RBW Hughes, Dolhelfa Ganol, Llangurig, Powys.
Eight bulls were entered, and four brought forward, with the championship going to Gerddi Cyfhebog 66th, shown by EP Evans, Gerddi Bluog, Harlech.
He was later sold for 3,000gns to SL Williams, Talybont, Aberystwyth.
Champion female, from a 10-strong entry, was shown by Emily Evans, Ty’n Shettin, selling for 1,360gns to WA Jones, Pwllheli.
Leading maiden heifer was Pant y Gelli Menna, shown by ML & SR Davies, Pontgarreg, Llandysul.
Prices Females (2) 1,130gns-1,360 gns; Maiden hfrs (8) av 932gns-1,300gns; Bulls (4) av 3,350gns-5,000gns.
