Less milk being delivered

The United Kingdom wholesale milk deliveries totalled 993.5 million litres in September, bringing the cumulative total for the year to 6,814.3 million litres.
This is a slight decrease on August 2012 when 1,062 million litres were produced. The statistics have been released by the Rural Payments Agency having received details from milk purchasers of the amount of milk which was produced.

Knowstone venue for Sheep South West

The South West Region of the National Sheep Association has announce that the NSA Sheep South West 2013 is to be held on June 11.
Hosts for the event will be Michael and David Snell and family, from Moortown Barton, Knowstone, South Molton.
They run 500 North Country Mules and 500 Suffolk Mules. Application forms and further details can be obtained from Sue Martyn on 01409 271385.

Over 100 entries for Beef Calf Show

The Cornwall Pedigree Beef Calf Show takes place on October 28 at the Royal Cornwall Showground starting at 10am.
This is the second year of the show and organisers report well over 100 entries in the four sections.
Penny Lally said: "We are confident this years' show will have a brilliant atmosphere and be a most enjoyable day for everyone.
We have more seats this year for weary legs, lots of lovely grub and plenty of smart calves, as well as young-handler classes."

Publication of rodent control guide

The release of HGCA's updated Rodent Control in Agriculture guide has been brought forward following an increase in rodent sightings.
The wet weather has caused rodents' usual habitats to become waterlogged, forcing them to move from fields to buildings earlier than normal.
Included is the Campaign for Responsible Rodenticide Use code of practice, which aims to achieve rodent control without causing harm to other animals.
